We learnt the basic editing functions of Final Cut Pro, such as: J-Reverse Play, K-Pause Play, L-Forward Play, I-Mark In Point, O-Mark Out Point. As this was the first time I used Final Cut Pro, it took me some time to get used to the functions. Firstly we had to choose the shots we were actually going to use for our opening. We had to drag and drop them to the red section of the screen to include them in our opening. The most difficult part was editing each shot according to the beat of our soundtrack. We had to keep adjusting the sound bar at the bottom of the screen. For example when the protagonist enters the screen with a side shot, the sound became more dramatic, emphasizing the importance of the character. This technique was difficult and more time consuming as the music had to be adjusted all the time. However, it worked extremely well at the end and made the whole opening more effective and successful.
When we had to add the titles, it took us some time to decide which colour would contrast with the background and would make the title easily visible. The job roles had to be clearly visible and it took us some time to decide on this.
Final Cut Pro is difficult to use at first but it is a very effective tool to make the editing seamless. Once we had had enough practise with our preliminary, using it became slightly easier.
